MALAYBALAY CITY – Delivery rider Florante Asingua received P12,940 representing his monetary claims and company insurance following an amicable settlement with his employer facilitated by the Department of Labor and Employment-10’s (DOLE-10) through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA), this city, on March 13.
Asingua was hit by a passenger bus along Sayre Highway while carrying parcels to be delivered to the customers.
Because of this mishap, he was terminated from work due to hospitalization treatment secondary to the accident which resulted to his broken bones. This then prompted Asingua to ask assistance from DOLE.
“I always follow up for updates from my employer but unfortunately after four months, there is still no update regarding my pay, insurance and SSS claims,” Asingua said.
Raul Valmores, DOLE-10 Bukidnon Provincial Field Office (Buk PFO) provincial director, said they received Asingua’s request for assistance (RFA) on Feb. 21, 2023 and was immediately scheduled for conciliation-mediation conferences for both parties for possible settlement via zoom meeting on Feb. 28, 2023.
As a result of the conciliation-mediation, Asingua claims were settled March 13, 2023 and granted P12,940 for his pay including company insurance claims following an amicable settlement.
At the same time, he received support to fast-track his Social Security System (SSS) sickness benefit claim.
“I am glad that I asked assistance from DOLE. Without the agency’s intervention, they will just probably ignore and will not process my claim. That is why I am grateful for the agency’s fast action,” Asingua said.
Valmores firmly believes that the public is now aware of the benefits of SEnA which is an inexpensive, speedy, and non-litigious way of settling labor disputes.
He also encourages workers to file a request through SEnA to facilitate an amicable settlement.
