CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Health Center for Health Development – Northern Mindanao (DOH CHD-NM) and Commission on Population and Development (CPD-X), in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X), inked a Memorandum of Agreement in pursuing population and development strategies among labor force in the region for an improved access to Family Planning and Reproductive Health (FPRH) services in the workplace on 5 July 2024 at Pearlmont Hotel, here.
This collaboration benefitted 64 private sector representatives in an orientation on Healthy Workplace Framework on 9 July 2024 also at Pearlmont Hotel. DOH CHD-NM committed to promote a culture of health and safety in the workplace through the development of assessment tools, and interventions to improve health literacy and reduce risks of unhealthy behaviors.
Likewise, DOLE-X Regional Director Atty. Erwin N. Aquino affirms the department’s commitment in protecting and promoting the fundamental right of all workers in the private sector for a safe and healthy work environment. DOLE includes the commitment to protect the most vulnerable as the initiative aims to involve the informal sector to achieve a “Healthy Pilipinas.”
DOH CHD-NM Health Education and Promotion Officer III Nur-Aian R. presented the seven health priority areas in a workplace, which covers (1) diet and exercise; (2) environmental health; (3) immunization; (4) substance abuse; (5) mental health; (6) sexual and reproductive health; and (7) violence and injury protection. And, Communications Management and Health Education and Promotions Cluster Head Dr. Primi O. Rias facilitated the workshop for participants to identify the health and safety assessment tools for DOH’s review and monitoring for healthy workplaces. (DOLE-10)
