I was surprised to learn that Moresco-1 as an electric cooperative has a 1-month policy disconnection.
While I am impressed by the quality of customer service the coop is rendering to its consumers with real time response on queries and quick to act on power related troubles, it is almost unthinkable that it embraces such an anti-poor policy as if it is being run as a profit oriented private firm and not a cooperative of households from all walks of life.
I sent an email last Monday to their general manager regarding the issue with the intent that this concern be elevated to the board for serious consideration as this adversely affects the marginalized sector which comprise a big percent of consumers.
The 2-month disconnection policy they had the previous years was already insensitive, this one-month disconnection policy is outright heartless and borderline a curtailment of the right to quality life among the underprivileged considering that access to electricity is a necessity now.
I am also calling for an explanation from the board who approve of such policy. If they cannot relate to how cruel this is for the poor then they have no business sitting as board on behalf of the members.
There are so many other ways to improve sustainability of operation other than this heartless policy, unless they are not competent to explore workable strategies that they are resorting to the easiest yet most cruel for the marginalized.
This is nothing less than a case of discrimination against the poor.
