CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental – The 612 workers of Rizal and Hinaplanan barangays were paid with P2,386,800 worth of wages, under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced workers (TUPAD) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X) at Rizal Covered Court and Hinaplanan Health Center, this municipality, on Oct. 4, 2022.
Errol Natividad, DOLE-X Misamis Oriental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Or. PFO) chief, said the P3,900 wage per beneficiary served as payment for the 10-day work on debris clearing, disinfection, and agro-forestry projects on certain areas of the said barangays on Aug. 16-30, 2022.
Moreover, Jerwin Jun Llenares, a 34-year old underemployed person with disability (PWD) and first-time program recipient, said his income as street vendor was greatly affected by the pandemic and not enough to support the increasing financial needs of his family.
“Thanks to DOLE, as a PWD, this program is a great help to my family. This can add capital for my small business,” Llenares said.
Likewise, street food vendor Frelene Bagtasos said, “I am a college graduate but it is very hard to find a job these days, that is why I am truly grateful to DOLE for their emergency employment program, because this can greatly help my family financially.”
Natividad said 471 Rizal beneficiaries received their salaries thru cash from the Local Government Unit as Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) of DOLE-X, while the 141 Hinaplanan beneficiaries received their salaries through money remittance provider from DOLE-X direct administration.
TUPAD is implemented either through direct administration or ACP which refers to the program partner of DOLE responsible for the direct delivery of services to the target beneficiary.
They are the workers’ organizations, other non-profit peoples’ organizations and non-profit, non-government organizations that have passed the accreditation requirements of DOLE.
TUPAD provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed, and disadvantaged poor for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 90 days, depending on the nature of work.
