- Almost P1 million prize money to be won by top five collegiate teams joining the biggest and grandest tournament in the region.
BAYUGAN City, Agusan del Sur — With a total prize money of almost P1 million, the Mayor Kirk Asis Open Invitational Basketball Tournament 2024 will kickoff on June 27-29 at the Lope Asis Memorial gymnasium here in Bayugan City.

This tournament is considered as the grandest and the biggest Open basketball competition in the Northeast part of Mindanao and in CARAGA region.
Organizer Van Halen Parmis confirmed that four teams from Manila and the winningest team from Cebu, the University of the Visayas Green Lancers are joining the 3-day cagefest.
They will battle for the P300,000 championship cash prize while the runner-up will get P200,000.
The other three teams will not go home empty handed with the third placer getting P150,000, fourth placer P100,000 and fifth placer P75,000.
Leading the Manila teams is the lone representative from the UAAP, ARQ Builders- Adamson University Soaring Falcons.
The winningest NCAA basketball team Wengburs Apartelle and Ella Store- San Beda Red Lions, will lead the two other NCAA teams, Arianos Construction- Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, and Vincare Pharma- Perpetual Help University Altas.
The tournament is a single round robin format with the top teams fighting for the championship and the 3rd and 4th best teams playing for the third place prize.
The worst team will go home with the 5th place cash prize.
This is the 13th year that coach Van Halen Parmis has been organizing this event for the people of Bayugan in honor of the City’s Charter Day celebrations and the Kahimunan Festival in honor of the Child Jesus and the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
