MAMBAJAO, CAMIGUIN – The Department of Labor and Employment-10 (DOLE-10) through its Camiguin Provincial Field Office (Cam PFO) headed by Provincial Director Arlyn Bael in partnership with Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-10 (RTWPB-10), headed by OIC Board Secretary Gretchen Lamayan, capacitates 25 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through basic occupational safety and health (BOSH) in the workplace and productivity training on at Villa Paraiso Resort and Waterpark, this municipality on April 25.
The activity is under the Workers Organization and Development Program (WODP) which aimed to capacitate and empower workers through provision of trainings that will be beneficial to them.
The highlight of the activity was the reactivation of the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Industry Tripartite Council.
Part of the agenda was the election of the new set of officers who will take their oath on May 2023.
Evelyn Rivera, RTWPB-10 senior labor and employment officer, discussed topics on improving productivity through employee engagement which helps the establishments to determine their needs for improvement.
At the end of the session, all the participants were able to create action plans highlighting employee participation to be presented to their employers and workers upon their return to their workplaces.
Sr. LEO Orlando Abrenica Jr., discussed on the Basic Occupational Safety and Health in the Workplace and the importance of safety guidelines which will benefit both the employer and its workers.
Felix Ybañez, owner of Welfred’s Printing and Services said “I am very elated and thankful to DOLE for inviting me to this kind of training. With this, I am able to formulate strategies on how to increase the productivity of my workers.”
The Workers Organization Development Program (WODP) serves as a facilitating mechanism in strengthening trade unions and other workers’ organizations.
It provides an opportunity for systemic learning and growth aiming at greater productivity, prosperity and welfare to the employer, workers’ organization and its members and their dependents.
WODP focuses on developing the capabilities of the workers and their organization to be able to perform their roles effectively and efficiently toward the promotion of trade unionism, workers’ empowerment and sound labor-management relations.
Also, it provides educational opportunities to officers and members including their dependents for self-development, growth and be effective change agent in their organization and in their personal life.
