CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Tourism (DOT) launched its newest promotional campaign project dubbed, “Colors of Mindanao,” to showcase various inter-regional and intra-regional travel circuits of northern Mindanao, Davao region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Socksargen and Caraga, May 2 at Chali Beach Resort, here.
Hosted by the Department of Tourism-10 (DOT-10), the program was launched alongside various regional directors nationwide, assistant secretaries, and undersecretary of the department.
“This is the first time that the whole of Mindanao is united under one banner, and what a colorful banner it is. Each hue represents a tourism product that is part of an inter- or intra-regional serpent. This campaign is timely and significant as we open the Philippines to international tourism,” said DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat.
The “Colors of Mindanao” aims to show the world that the island has more to offer in terms of tourist spots, succulent culinary dishes, and culture.
Such is also created to end the stigma that was brought by previous reports of unfortunate events, safety concerns, and wars that made an impression of a chaotic island.
“It is high time for the world and the locals to see the true colors of Mindanao. The entire concept of the Colors of Mindanao comes from the heart of the native Mindanaoans who want nothing more but to show the true colors of an island they so well love to everyone around the globe,” said DOT Undersecretary for Mindanao Myra Paz Valderrosa-Abubakar.
As the country opens its door once again to the new normal, the department aims to draw more tourists and show the beautiful, majestic, and colorful tourist spots that Mindanao can offer.
“It is one hundred percent safe to travel to Mindanao and it awaits those who want to discover and experience its richness,” said Puyat. (JAKA | PIA-10)
