Poor population in R-10 estimated at 33.8% in the 1st sem 2021

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The proportion of poor individuals in Northern Mindanao whose per capita income is not sufficient to meet their basic food and non-food needs or the poverty incidence among the region 10 population, was estimated at 33.8 percent during the first semester of 2021, the Phil. Statistics Authority-10 said.
This translates to 1.72 million individuals in the region who lived below the poverty threshold estimated at P11,920, on the average, for a family of five per month in the first semester of 2021.
Meanwhile, subsistence incidence among population in the region or the proportion of region 10 poor individuals whose income is not enough to meet even the basic food needs, was recorded at 15.0 percent or about 762 thousand individuals whose income is below the monthly food threshold of PhP8,305 for a family of five for the same period.
Among the families, poverty incidence for the same period was estimated at 26.2 percent which is equivalent to around 312 thousand poor families.
Meanwhile, proportion of food poor families was estimated at 10.9 percent or about 130 thousand families who cannot afford even their basic food needs. (PSA-10)
