BFAR-10: P1.78M fisheries livelihood

TANGUB CITY – In an effort to augment post-harvest losses and increase the income of fisherfolk, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-10 through the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program conducted a turn-over of mini-processing shed and fisheries livelihood to the fisherfolk of Tangub City, Misamis Occidental, recently.
Funded in 2020, the mini-processing shed, valued around P268,839 is expected to benefit and uplift the lives of 45 members of San Apolinario’s fisherfolk organization.
Furthermore, this year, a total of P1,605,120.30 worth of fisheries livelihood were also provided to the organization.
The interventions comprise the following: 45 sets of Bottom Set Gill Nets for Sea Catfish, 45 sets of Bottom Set Gill Nets for Tilapia, 45 10-kilogram capacity HDPE ice buckets, 300 pieces of bamboo butts, and 150 pieces of bamboo poles.
Present during the turnover ceremony were Tangub City Mayor Jennifer Tan, city agriculturist Jose Binondo, San Apolinario barangay chairperson Eddie Gomez, barangay fisherfolk organization president Edwin Pondoc, alternate PFO-Misamis Occidental Virginia Valde, BFAR-PFO SAAD focal person Bernie Beduya, and other BFAR- PFO staff.
