Agri NorMin reviews 37 research, development studies

MALAYBALAY CITY, BUKIDNON – The Department of Agriculture- 10 (DA-10) recently conducted an in-house presentation and review of studies conducted by its researchers and technical team of its Research Division and stations.

Some 37 studies were presented and reviewed which include five completed, 26 on-going and six proposals for the first semester of 2021.

The pre-in-house Research and Development Review is an annual appraisal of research papers conducted in coordination with the evaluators from the member-agencies of the Northern Mindanao Research Development and Extension Network (NOMIRDEN).

These studies are aimed on developing technologies on improved integrated farming systems; value-added product development; sustainable soil, water and fertilizer management; plant nutrition; livestock feeding management; crop and livestock pest and disease diagnosis and prevention; development of climate-change resilience modalities, among others.

Meanwhile, proposed research projects include adaptability yield trials, technology adaption, product development, crop-livestock integration enhancement, yield forecast-guided marketing information system, among others.

The completed and on-going studies evaluated during the pre-in-house review will be further presented during the DA-10 annual agency research review anytime this year.

The best research paper awardees of the agency review will advance for presentation and competition to this year’s regional research symposium which is annually conducted by the Northern Mindanao Consortium on Agriculture, Aquaculture Research and Development (NOMCAARD)

Evaluators were Dr. Raul Ebuña, director of Student Affairs and Professor of the Soil Science Department of the Central Mindanao University (CMU); Dr. Lodevico Domingo, chair of the CMU Food Science Department; Dr. Winson Gutierrez, chair of the CMU Animal Science Department; Dr. Apolinario Gonzaga Jr., director of Research and Extension of the University of Science and Technology of the Southern Philippines (USTP); and in-house peer evaluators from the Department of Agriculture led by Cora Dumayaca, chief of the DA-10 Research Division.
