From security guard to PRC nominee

IN times of pandemic, success stories of people from rugs to riches play a crucial role in instigating positivity in our countrymen.

Just like the story of a former security guard who elevated himself to be one of the top executives of a realty corporate giant, and now, one of the three nominees of Professional Regulation Commission's (PRC) Outstanding Professional of the Year for Criminology Profession for CY 2021.

Known as Richard V. Alcantara, #RareValuableAsset, this humble but very professional and excellent man, is a multi-awarded licensed security and criminologist professional.

“Despite receiving more than a hundred awards and recognitions, this nomination is very special to me as this is conferred by the Professional Regulation Commission itself,” Alcantara said.

“I really do appreciate this recent development,” he added.

Alcantara completed his secondary school at Dasmariñas East National High School (DENHS) and was able to acquire his bachelor's degree in De La Salle University (DLSU) - Dasmariñas in Cavite.

He continued his higher education while employed and was able to earn his Master's Degree in Criminology Major in Security and Safety Management at Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) in Manila, and later on, Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice with Specialization in Criminology at De La Salle University Dasmariñas Cavite and Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) at Brethren Evangelical School of Theology International.

The former security guard is currently the vice president - head of the security and safety department of Filinvest Land, Inc.

With his 24 years of diligence, passion, and determination in becoming better, he was able to receive various awards and recognitions in different industries, companies, and organizations. Alcantara received a total of more or less 150 awards/commendations/letters of appreciation in industrial security management (ISM), which include PCAP Outstanding Criminologist of the Year (2020); Philippine Society of Industrial Security (PSIS) International Service Award (2020) and International Outstanding CSP Frontliner (2020).

He is an honorary member of PNPA Class of 1992 Tagapagpatupad; adopted of PMA Class of 1998 Masinag; Board of director of Mall Security Management Association of the Philippines, Philippine Society for Industrial Security International (PSISI), Board of Directror of Asia Pacific Security Association-Philippine Chapter and The Fraternal Order of Eagles-Philippine Eagles San Pedro Matikas Eagle Club NCR 7 and Empire Eagles Club NCR 12.

Alcantara is also a member of Bagong Buhay Lodge No.17 Cavite City of Free and Accepted Mason Grand Lodge of the Philippines.

His latest achievements were being appointed as ambassador-at-large and commissioner of SCOPSS commission of SPMUDA International Organization who also recently awarded him the International Peace Day-World Peace Achiever Award of 2021.
