TRADE and Industry Undersecretary Abdulgani Macatoman has reported that the implementation of the Inter-Cabinet Cluster Mechanism on Normalization (ICCMN) Peaceful Return and Aggressive Inclusion Social Entrepreneurship (PRAISE) is underway.
IN a press conference last May 22 in Cagayan de Oro City, Macatoman reported that the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) role in ICCMN PRAISE is to provide immediate MSME opportunities to families of decommissioned Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatants all over the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in cooperation with the local government units and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP).
Under the MOA, OPAPPP and DTI will jointly carry out the P70-million PRAISE program that aims to provide livelihood and entrepreneurial projects, conduct a product-area feasibility study and partially implement a special project for a host LGU.
These projects aim to help transform six government-acknowledged MILF camps into show windows of peace and development.
The PRAISE program will also help decommissioned combatants become pilot entrepreneurs in the Bangsamoro communities in the development and management of enterprises.
DTI has established a technical working group to implement the operating guidelines and policies of the project under the oversight of the joint steering committee of the ICCMN socioeconomic cluster.
The project’s implementation is currently supervised by a project management team consisting of representatives from local and national government agencies. The project will run from October 2020 to June 2021.
“The DTI fuly supports OPAPP in its quest for peace in the country through providing livelihood assistance for our former combatants,” Macatoman said. “Through this, we would be able to achieve inclusive growth in BARMM free from violence, fear and despair.”
