CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY –The immediate family members and friends have sought justice after a 24-year-old male was stabbed to death by the unidentified suspects at the coastal road in Barangay Lapasan in this city around 12 a.m. on Sunday, July 17.
Lt. Macario Linog Jr., the Agora police station deputy commander, in a phone interview, identified the victim as Cris Semaña, a delivery rider and a resident of Western Kolambog of the same barangay.
Many of Semaña’s friends have expressed their sympathy and condolences through the victim’s facebook account and asked for justice from the authorities.
“I was shocked earlier this morning [when she heard the news]. I am very sad because he [Semaña] is really a good person and we are friends since high school,” she said in vernacular.
In a separate phone interview Sunday evening, the victim’s older brother thanked the police for handling the case and expressed hope that the victim’s minor girlfriend would surpass the traumatic experience to help the investigation.
The Agora police station deputy commander said that younger Semaña and his minor girlfriend were just dating at the Coastal Road when the incident took place.
The victim’s brother stressed that the only person who can help them with the case is the victim’s minor girlfriend.
“What we need right now is for her [the victim’s minor girlfriend] to be okay and we hope that her trauma will be gone. Because she is the only one [who can provide further details],” the brother said in vernacular.
“I hope she will help herself to recover because she is the only one who can help us to solve this,” he added.
The police initial investigation revealed that while the victim and his minor girlfriend were at the said place of the incident, there were two unidentified individuals who approached them, followed by pointing a knife.
Lt. Linog said the two victims were then brought separately to a dark area of the said place.
He said the victim sustained 10 stab wounds from the different parts of his body and the minor girlfriend told the police that she was raped. The police are still waiting for the result of the medico-legal for the confirmation.
Linog said there could be three suspects of the incident as there was accordingly one lookout aside from the two individuals who approached the victims.
The police investigation has been ongoing and they are currently looking for robbery as a possible motive for the killing.
The police authorities urged the public to refrain from staying at the coastal road, especially during the night as it could possibly be a spot for victimizing the public due to the darkness of the area.
Linog assured the presence of police officers in their area of responsibility to provide security to the public at any time.
