Moreno said that as other hospitals across the region are getting burdened by Covid-19 cases, the region’s apex hospital – the Northern Mindanao Medical Center located here – is getting swamped by expected admission referred from across region 10. “We are in a crisis already; we are already in a state of calamity and this virus has pushed us deeper into a crisis,” Moreno said. On June 7, 2021, Bukidnon’s provincial IATF once again asked the IATF to raise its quarantine status from Modified General Community Quarantine to General Community Quarantine status as cases in the province went up 200 percent in just a matter of weeks.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Unidentified gunmen shot dead on Friday noon a female executive of media network Brigada Group of Companies while on her way home in a village here. Capt. Abdulsalam Mamalinta, chief of city police station number 4, said the victim, Yentez Quintoy, 34, was traversing a portion of the NLSA road in Barangay San Isidro aboard a sports utility vehicle (SUV) around 12:15 p.m. when waylaid by two motorcycle-riding suspects. He said the suspects, who were aboard a black Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle, came close to the Mistubishi Xpander SUV driven by the victim as it reached the corner of the NLSA road and Guinto Street in Purok Masunurin and opened fire. Quintoy, the executive office director and chief of staff of Brigada Group, sustained a gunshot wound on the body and was declared dead upon arrival at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, he said.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Authorities are now hunting down three persons who escaped from a Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-10 (BJMP-10) facility in Barangay Tankulan, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon Wednesday night. The inmates were identified by police as Jimson Devara, 25, of Libona, Bukidnon; Rogue Batuigas, 35, Libona; and Benjie Orias, 28, of Lingi-on, Manolo Fortich. Devara is charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act; Batuigas, qualified rape and acts of lasciviousness; and Orias, homicide. Their cases are still ongoing, police said. A police report said the jail break occurred at around 10:45 in the evening.

In their complaint letter sent to reporters, a group of homeowners have accused the people behind One Oasis condominium of violating their rights, as they asserted the decision of the management to disconnect their water connection could be due to a series of grievances they sent out to real estate giant Filinvest Land, the company that owns the complex, starting in 2017. “This is clearly a retaliation against us,” said Karl Yngojo, one of the homeowners of One Oasis, in a phone interview. Yngojo said their water connection was cut June 1, the first day of the imposition of the 15-day MECQ in Cagayan de Oro.
