CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – “These people are tested and proven.”
With this, the Filipino-Chinese businessmen belonging to the Misamis Oriental Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MOFCCCII) and the Cagayan de Oro Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (CDOFCCCII) vocalized their wholehearted support to the Team KaubanTaUy during their meeting Wednesday (04 April 2022) afternoon.
The meeting was called by both sides to discuss ways and means how they can best work together in recovering from the ill effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and improving the overall business climate in the city.
The Filipino-Chinese businessmen rallied behind the Team KaubanTaUy after Rep. Rolando “Klarex” Uy, the leading mayoralty candidate, told them that his administration will be a consultative and participatory kind of government in which all people can join hands with City Hall and the City Council in running the city.
“I just told them that if given the chance to serve as mayor, my administration will be a consultative and participatory one. We need each other and we need to consult with everyone if we really are serious in reviving our economy from the ruins of Covid-19. Every Kagay-anon has the chance to participate in governance,” Uy told reporters in the vernacular after the meeting.
The outgoing representative of the city’s first congressional district explained that Team KaubanTaUy’s platform of government, which is RISE 2022, will be just a piece of paper and campaign propaganda if they will not consult and listen to the people they will be serving.
RISE is acronym for Regional Leadership (Metropolization, Accessibility and Connectivity); I for Institutional Development and Participatory Governance; S for Safety, Security and Human Development; and E for Economic Recovery (Agricultural Productivity, MSME and Cooperative Development, and Environment and Natural Resource Management).
“Dili lang kini mga pulong sa papel. Ang Team adunay gihan-ay ug gipreparar nga action plan kung unsaon nato pagbarug og balik gikan sa maot nga epekto sa Covid-19 pandemic ug uban pang mga hagit nga atong giatubang sa nilabayng katuigan aron kita mas lig-on o resilient nga moatubang sa mga hagit sa sunod nga mga katuigan,” he added.
In response to what the Team KaubanTaUy told them, leaders of the Filipino-Chinese businessmen/women expressed their hope that they will be able to work together with City Hall and the City Council after Monday’s elections.
“These people are tested and proven. Their track records will speak for themselves. And we are hoping that soon, very soon, we will be working together to make our city a much better city than it is today,” one Filipino-Chinese leader said.
Speaking to reporters, entrepreneur Irene Floro, who is running for the second district’s seat in Congress under Team KaubanTaUy, said that what the businessmen/women really like about the team is the RISE 2022 platform of government, most specifically the Economic Recovery.
“They also like the fact that Mayor Klarex told them that he will be regularly consulting them as he will institute a consultative and participatory government once elected mayor,” she said.
“I think that’s what really swayed them to support the team,” Floro added.
Uy had earlier said that once he is mayor, he will set aside one day each week of his term just to listen to the people. (PR)
